In 1860 in Sassello, a village in the Ligurian hinterland, a refined and delicious delicacy was born: the Virginia Amaretti. The oven that produced these special sweets soon became a delightful meeting place for locals and visitors, so much so that the square on which it overlooked was indicated, in the postcards of the time, as "Piazza degli Amaretti Virginia". Fragrant, with a firm and soft almond paste, the Virginia Amaretti are still made today with the passion and care of the old master confectioners. The current production also includes pastries dusted with icing sugar, amaretti with soft shells of fine chocolate, traditional desserts, crunchy biscuits; the precious experience of over a century is a guarantee of quality for Virginia sweets. A quality that has always been appreciated, even among the glories of the most important International Exhibitions. Among the most authoritative: the award ceremony on the occasion of the Colombians of 1892, in Genoa, with a first class diploma and medal, and the prestigious recognition achieved in Paris in 1911, where the delicate flavors of Virginia conquered a highly selected Jury. The attempts at imitation were numerous, so much so that the founder had the Virginia brand put under the protection of the laws of the Kingdom of Italy. Elegant and refined, the packages recall keeping images of the past, sweet memories of a good life.
